A new courtyard space is being created between the church and the newly planned residential building. This space is a special place, a transitional space from the street to the community center and church. This courtyard space, defined under a large oval opening, is suitable for a variety of activities, especially since the community hall and group rooms are planned directly adjacent. On nice sunny days the rooms can be completely opened up to the courtyard. A spatial continuum without steps and without boundaries is created between inside and outside. Every visitor, regardless of age, cultural and social background or interests, is welcome.
The identity-defining element of the farm is a newly planted, large-crowned deciduous tree. A sand or grass area can be created around its trunk, which serves as a playground for the little ones. Due to the proximity of the new kitchen, the courtyard can be used as a small café terrace.
We see the community center as part of the church: Access to the community center is from both the courtyard and the church. The side aisle of the church serves as access to the community hall, including the adjacent group room. This highlights the close connection between the community center and the church and at the same time optimizes the use of an area. A folded, painted glass wall is provided on either side of the church’s central nave. On the one hand, if necessary, the community center can be separated from the church space both acoustically and visually. An additional group room will be created on the other side of the central nave.
The high flexibility in the use of the community hall and group room 1 is supported by a wall element covered with perforated oak wood and arranged across the room. Moved smoothly across the depth of the room, the approximately 145 square meter hall can be divided into two independently accessible units, depending on requirements.
