The Glückstein Quarter, named after the Palatinate dialect poet Hanns Glückstein, is a new district south of Mannheim Central Station. Lindenhofplatz was created as a central start to the district and connects it with the main train station and the city center. The area extends over around 33 hectares and includes areas owned by Deutsche Bahn AG, former areas of the John Deere foundry and urban areas. In recent years, office and administrative space, service rooms, living areas and a public parking garage with 600 parking spaces have been created here.

The new Bilfinger headquarters will be built in a prominent location on Lindenhofplatz. The building is based on the specifications of the development plan and, together with the neighboring Victoria Tower and the planned access structure along the southern bypass, fits harmoniously into the district. It creates a striking transition to the city center and an attractive start to the new district. The Bilfinger headquarters is characterized by flowing transitions from the urban space to the building. The main entrance on Glücksteinallee is clearly visible and has a strong long-distance effect, while an additional entrance on Lindenhofplatz strengthens the building’s presence in the urban space and enables flexible usage options for events.

The internal organization of the building is functionally well thought out: the departments are arranged sensibly, and thanks to three staircases, a simple construction and a well-proportioned floor plan geometry, areas can be flexibly adjusted and various office units can be created. All rooms benefit from daylight and modern workplace qualities.
The facade of the building impresses with its elegant restraint. Their construction is aimed at balancing the proportions of the house, highlighting special places and emphasizing the height of the high-rise building. The conventional window construction with triple glazing and integrated sun protection meets sound insulation requirements and enables the facade to be cleaned from the inside. The verticality is emphasized by two-story high frames made of fiber concrete, the depth of which varies every two floors – from 40 centimeters on the ground floor to 15 centimeters on the upper floors.
