“If the prophet doesn’t come to the mountain, the mountain has to go to the prophet.” True to this motto, the idea for the cultural mobile was born, a traveling workshop for teacher training at Hessian schools. The mobile should travel to schools throughout the state at regular intervals and collect extensive materials from the areas of reading, creative writing, theater, art and media.
Seminars, courses and workshop events are planned on site inside the mobile during stays lasting several days.
The maximum width of a vehicle of only two and a half meters, as defined by the road traffic regulations, allows little space for the implementation of the ambitious project. This disadvantage is eliminated by means of a “drawer” built into the mobile. When the mobile has reached its destination, the “drawer” is extended and the interior area is increased from 28 to 46 square meters within 15 seconds.
The furniture is based on a basic grid of 60 centimeters.
They are suspended in a rail system, which means they can be easily removed and stowed away again at any time. This means that the use of space remains flexible.
Because of the different colors of the materials used, the built-in elements are left in their natural surfaces: the shelves are made of stainless steel, the cabinets are made of birch multiplex panels and the wall surfaces are in natural aluminum or filled with double-wall panels.
