Magazine pays tribute to the work of Freiburg's Design Advisory Board for the period 2014 to 2022

"What are the benefits of a Design Advisory Board?" The Mayor of the City of Freiburg, Prof. Dr. Martin Haag, pursues this question in the foreword of the recently published magazine "STADT. BAUSTEIN. GESTALTUNGSBEIRAT FREIBURG" and concludes: "Transparency in structural decisions, superior quality in important buildings and open spaces and eventually a better quality of life for everyone!"

Since 2014, the Freiburg Design Advisory Board has been safeguarding and mediating Building Culture in exposed locations and key projects. It has been contributing its expertise on solitary buildings, new urban neighborhoods and architectural competitions. From 2014 to the present day, its members, all of whom are experts in the fields of urban planning, architecture and landscape planning, have held around 50 meetings and dealt with more than 100 different building projects, including a students’ residence, a fire station, a church and a hardware store.

Prof. Zvonko Turkali, a member of the board from 2014 to 2020 and its chairman from January 2019 to March 2020, sums up: "I like to remember the great public interest and its response to the Advisory Board. The meetings were always attended by many interested citizens. The goal of a Design Advisory Board is to ensure a high level of urban planning and architectural quality through consultation while reaching out to the public at the same time. Freiburg lays the foundations for this cause."

The magazine "STADT. BAUSTEIN. GESTALTUNGSBEIRAT FREIBURG", published by the Building Law Office of the City of Freiburg, gives former and current members of the committee a chance to speak. It presents ten exemplary projects and provides an abundance of information on work, principles, and goals of a design advisory committee.
