Office Building Telekom Hanau

The plot is located in a mixed-use area in Hanau: office buildings, car dealerships, a supermarket, and scattered residential buildings from the 1960s and 1970s constitute the heterogeneous setting.

The parcel of land for the new structure was already built-up with a car wash of the adjacent car dealership. This car wash was to be maintained and to remain open during the entire construction period.

A distinctly elevated footing made off exposed concrete integrates the car wash into the building composition. It includes multiple offices as well as a Telekom customer center. A roofed ramp construction is located on the side of the building and highlights the entrance area of the house.

The organization of the building is simple: a staircase leads to office rooms on both sides on the two upper stories of the building. The staircase, which is positioned almost in the center of the ground plan, is located alongside the exterior facade and thereby receives daylight.

Just as the construction, the building facade demonstrates a high level of prefabrication. The beams, the supporting framework, and slabs are precast components that are mounted on-site. The same holds true for the auburn shimmering tiles made from burnt clay at the closed facade areas. The glazed elements are room-high and equipped with sun blinds.
