Construction expected to begin in the fall

St. Nicolai Church in Frankfurt's Ostend district, which was rebuilt in 1959 after being destroyed during the war, will receive a new community center. Turkali Architekten have been commissioned with the planning for the new building including an adjacent residential building at the site of the Evangelical Lutheran St. Nicolai Parish. The construction is expected to begin in the fall of this year.

The design by Turkali Architekten envisions a new one-story parish hall, which is connected to the side aisle of the church and, together with the new residential building, encloses a green courtyard. The courtyard functions as a transitional space from the street to the interior and provides a protected open space for a wide variety of activities.

The new community center accommodates an approximately 140-square-foot event hall, as well as several group rooms and community offices. Glazed exposed concrete ceilings and walls, as well as wood paneling and floors of natural stone or parquet create a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
The adjacent residential building houses 15 three- and four-room rental apartments with optimal orientation, large-format window openings and terraces or loggias. In addition, there is a new common underground parking garage with 28 parking spaces.

The owner of the community center is the Evangelische Regionalverband Frankfurt und Offenbach, the owner of the residential building is the Wohnbaugenossenschaft in Frankfurt am Main eG.
