Prof. Zvonko Turkali presents culture trace of a special kind

"Culture trace. A case for monument protection" – This is the theme of this year's interdisciplinary symposium Bad Nauheim, which will take place on September 10th, 2022, coinciding with the opening of the "Open Monument Day". The title “Kulturspur” (culture trace) deliberately refers to terminology from the field of criminology and makes clear how important the search for and analysis of traces in the valuable existing building stock are for restoration.

"After all, the layers of time as layers of history represent the traces of building culture. Recognizing and evaluating them is the prerequisite for all further steps in handling a valuable old building, regardless of whether it is listed as a monument or not," the program booklet states.

As one of several "culture track specialists", Prof. Zvonko Turkali will present a culture track of a special kind: an ensemble of three Biedermeier buildings in Luisenstrasse in the heart of Wiesbaden, which have been renovated and restored under aspects of monument protection.

Organizer of the one-day conference is the magistrate of the city of Bad Nauheim in cooperation with the Chamber of Architects and City Planners of Hesse, the Chamber of Crafts of Wiesbaden, the State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments of Hesse, the Propstei Johannesberg gGmbH Fulda and the Foundation Sprudelhof Bad Nauheim.
