A big celebration and numerous activities accompanied the formal inauguration of the 65,000 square meter large athletic ground in Frankfurt last weekend.
Several hundreds of guests and athletes were delighted with the new sports park. The building process took three years and cost 17 million Euros.
A new sports hall with nearly 200 spectator seats designed by Turkali Architekten represents the centerpiece of the ground. The ferroconcrete and wood building comprises three sport fields and necessary functional rooms for the entire sports park.
Wood paneling of the walls and ceiling characterize the interior of the new building. Conically shaped skylights and a perforated room-divider along the entire long side of the hall ensure an optimal use of daylight. Glazed openings positioned at special locations present views onto the Frankfurt skyline and the television tower.
