Starting signal for city arena according to plans by Turkali Architekten

Urban and close, sustainable and green, organic and progressive - this is how the new city arena, located at Kaiserlei between Frankfurt and Offenbach, is envisioned. It was designed by Turkali Architekten and unveiled at a digital press conference on Monday, February 15, 2021.

"A green city arena at Kaiserlei is a special highlight for the entire region!" said Gunnar Wöbke, managing director of Frankfurt Skyliners on the occasion of the press conference. He added that the Kaiserlei district was by far the best and most charming location for a new sports and cultural arena in the entire Frankfurt Rhine-Main metropolitan region. The arena would be a building of the city and the landscape for the people of the region, open on 365 days a year for sports, music and show events.

The approximately 6-hectare large site is attractively located between Frankfurt and Offenbach and represents a link between the two cities. From here, it is less than five kilometers to Frankfurt's famous Hauptwache and three kilometers to Offenbach's city center. The Main river and the "Kaiserlei" S-Bahn station are only a few minutes walk away. The popular Main bike trail connects all towns from Mainz to Aschaffenburg with the city arena emission-free. The site can even be reached by ship.

"What belongs together is growing together," says Prof. Zvonko Turkali, owner of Turkali Architekten in Frankfurt. This is also reflected in the design of Turkali Architekten: The multifunctional arena with a capacity for approximately 13,000 visitors is a friendly and bright building. It opens up to the visitors at the entrance level transparently and with a lot of green. In the evening hours, the building appears in different colors and thus strengthens the identification of the fans with their arena or their sports team.

A special highlight featuring a view of the impressive Frankfurt skyline is the green roof that can be accessed and turns the arena into an integral part of the green space. A wide variety of events can be held here, independently of the arena's operation. The roof also invites visitors to jog and relax. A parking garage integrated into the structure of the arena for approximately 2,000 bicycles as well as 2,300 cars is available to visitors.

The arena will be a showcase for climate-friendly construction. Low primary energy requirements, the use of renewable building materials such as wood, green electricity from the solar system on the roof etc. will reduce the arena's carbon footprint.
