Inauguration Boarding School Weiterstadt

Last Wednesday, Hessian prime minister Volker Bouffier and the president of the Chamber of Crafts Bernd Ehinger inaugurated the new boarding school on the campus of the Chamber of Crafts Frankfurt Rhein Main in Weiterstadt, which was planned and designed by Turkali Architekten. More than 500 guests joined the festivity in celebration of the completion of the new building.

“Those, who decide upon one of the challenging apprenticeships and career paths in one of the 130 skilled crafts and trades professions are entitled to high quality standards and modern contents in their course of studies. Of course, they should also be surrounded by a contemporary ambience in their boarding school. We are now accompanying the crafts and trade into the future”, President Ehinger emphasized.

The new five-story boarding school building comprises 48 double rooms and 14 single rooms with modern overnight accommodations for master pupils and apprentices in their first year of apprenticeship.

White concrete stone masonry and large-format windows with light-colored slats characterize the facades of the building. Spacious rooms, plenty of daylight and friendly materials create a welcoming atmosphere in the interior. Numerous openings in the facades as well as glazed concrete surfaces, porous concrete blocks in the corridors and light linoleum floors contribute to this warm atmosphere.
