Work report provides insight into the work of the Design Advisory Board

Based on 15 selected realized projects, the work report provides insight into the successful work of the Design Advisory Board of the City of Constance from 2013 to 2023. The spectrum ranges from large residential, commercial and public buildings to private renovation projects.

"Architecture defines places and creates urbanity, both for local citizens as well as for visitors. When you realize that every building project – to varying degrees – shapes and changes our environment, the enormous social responsibility of all those involved becomes clear," says Karl Langensteiner-Schoenborn, Mayor of the City of Constance, in the foreword to the report.

As one of the first Design Advisory Boards in Baden-Württemberg, the Constance Advisory Board for Architecture and Urban Design, or Design Advisory Board in short, was constituted in its current structure back in 2008. It has ever since supported the city as an independent body of experts in achieving a sustainable improvement in planning and building culture and preventing undesirable urban and architectural developments.

The Advisory Board is made of four experts from the fields of architecture, urban planning and landscape planning, who were appointed by the municipal council. One of them is Prof. Zvonko Turkali, who has been a member of the Design Advisory Board since 2020 and acts as its chairman since 2023.

"The Design Advisory Board will continue to be committed to building culture in the future. After all, the beauty of our city is its greatest asset, which we must all preserve together," assures Stefanie Hammer, Head of the Design Advisory Board's office.
