As one of a total of seven buildings, the boarding school of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts Frankfurt-Rhein-Main in Weiterstadt, realized by Zvonko Turkali Architekten, has been awarded the BDA Architecture Prize "Excellent Architecture in Hesse – Joseph-Maria-Olbrich-Plakette 2023" of the BDA Group Darmstadt.

The festive award ceremony took place on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at INTeF in Darmstadt. Admitted to the jury session of the Joseph-Maria-Olbrich-Plakette 2023 were buildings of any size and use, which were completed between 2018 and January 2023 and have their location in Darmstadt or the districts of Darmstadt-Dieburg, Bergstrasse, Groß-Gerau or in the Odenwald.

"We are grateful and happy about the award!" said a delighted Prof. Zvonko Turkali, who accepted the plaque together with the builders, Thomas Heinz (Vice President of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts Frankfurt-Rhein-Main) and Karsten Lamers (Deputy Chief Executive of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts Frankfurt-Rhein-Main).

With the prize, the BDA Hessen wants to make fine, exemplary architecture known to the public at large. In a cycle of five years, the BDA groups therefore announce four regional competitions: Joseph-Maria-Olbrich-Plakette (BDA-Group-Darmstadt), Martin-Elsaesser-Plakette (BDA-Group Frankfurt am Main), Simon-Louis-du-Ry-Plakette (BDA-Groups Kassel and Mittelhessen) and Johann-Wilhelm-Lehr-Plakette (BDA-Group Wiesbaden).
