A total of nine architectural offices were invited by MAG to participate in a realization competition for a daycare center and a 3-field sports hall in Gassnerallee at Mainz Zollhafen. The 4,233 m² site is located on the northern edge of the new urban quarter and is directly adjacent to the Waterkant building – an ensemble of condominiums and a hotel realized by Zvonko Turkali Architekten in 2018.

The competition design by Zvonko Turkali Architekten for the Gassnerallee site was awarded a recognition prize by the jury chaired by Stuttgart-based architect Prof. Jens Wittfoht. "The building ensemble is characterized by expressive design elements and a strong color scheme, (...)", reads the jury's verdict on the design by Zvonko Turkali Architekten. And further: "Overall, the design is appreciated as a very strong architectural setting (...)."
