Turkali Architekten is planning the new Querbuehne

In the coming years, a new quarter with approximately 1,600 apartments, a big park and numerous public institutions as well as retail, gastronomy and trade establishments will be set up on the premises of the abandoned freight depot in Hamburg Altona.

The realization of the project “Mitte Altona” started with the redevelopment and repurposing of the two heritage-protected warehouses. They will constitute as the heart of the new quarter and will accommodate a big local amenities center as well as further installations for daily needs.

Turkali Architekten is planning the building “Querbuehne”. It connects the two historical warehouses and completes the building ensemble on the grounds.

The Querbuehne features a transparent ground floor and adapts to the architectural principles of the warehouses by presenting visible constructions of reinforced concrete frames, brownish brick web bracings and large scale glass surfaces. The utilization concept of the approximately 5,400 square meter new building provides for gastronomic businesses on the ground floor. Office and agency premises for consulting firms, the creative industries and IT companies are arranged on the upper floors.

Building contractor of the entire project is Aurelis Real Estate GmbH & Co. KG.
