The excavation pit is dug

Progress is being made on the construction site at Waldschmidtstrasse 116 near Frankfurt Zoo. The excavation pit in Frankfurt's Ostend has now been dug. A few weeks ago, the construction of the shell for the new community center and residential building at the site of the Evangelical Lutheran St. Nicolai Parish began.

The laying of the foundation stone is planned for the end of April 2023, explains Prof. Zvonko Turkali of Zvonko Turkali Architekten. In a competition, the Frankfurt office had prevailed against renowned architectural firms in 2017.

The winning design envisions a new one-story parish hall adjoining the side aisle of the church and enclosing a landscaped green courtyard together with the new residential building. The residential building will include a total of 15 three- and four-room apartments as well as an underground garage with 28 parking spaces.

The project is being realized on the almost 2,800 square meter site by the Evangelische Regionalverband Frankfurt und Offenbach together with the Wohnbaugenossenschaft in Frankfurt am Main eG.
